Cranbrook Baptist Church is a Christian community of around 110 people, of different ages, races and backgrounds in Ilford, which is around 8 miles North-East of central London. We are a Baptist church: members of the Baptist Union, London Baptist Association and Evangelical Alliance. Yet we are an unusual church: we do not easily fit standard descriptions. Our members come from a wide range of experiences of Christ and express their discipleship in equally varied ways. Strong factors are the sense of family and love for one another and a belief that we have been called to live and work together as Christians. The following declaration was adopted at a meeting of the church on February 1st 1900 and is one with which the Church would still wish to identify itself: “We ... having already made personal confession of faith in our Lord Jesus Christ as our Redeemer and Saviour, either by Baptism or by union with some acknowledged body of Christians ... hereby resolve to unite together in worship and fellowship as a Church of Jesus Christ, meeting in Cranbrook Baptist Church, Ilford, to carry on Christian work in the neighbourhood, and in connection with the Baptist Denomination."
